Vision & Mission
Bel Éclairage is home to all practitioners. Founded during the Coronavirus pandemic - this online space was created to celebrate the ancient wisdom found in yoga and as an accessible medium to share these rich insights with others around the globe. With social distancing restrictions lifted,
Bel Éclairage brings yoga into non-studio settings including community centers, and senior homes. Located in Juneau, Alaska, we work closely with under-served, underrepresented and underprivileged members of the community. By sharing our practice, using non-stigmatizing language and teaching from a body positive and age-friendly approach, our vision is to create a positive intervention in the lives of our students.

Jessica is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), Mental Health Aware Yoga Teacher, Certified Dementia Practitioner, Librarian and Mental Health Advocate. She graduated with a Master's degree in biological anthropology and studied human osteological methods. From this deep immersion, she fostered a great appreciation and respect for the human body.
Jessica offers classical hatha, gentle flow and chair yoga classes that support in-depth self discovery.
Jessica's attention to safe physical alignment with awareness of diversity and inclusion allows her students to choose from multiple variations. Rather than focusing on the external appearance of a posture, Jessica encourages her students to allow the alignment of breath and movement to guide them into their unique expression of the pose, one that feels right internally.
Her approach to teaching stems from the understanding that yoga is an empirical science and spiritual discipline that aims to bring into balance the polarity of the body-mind. Jessica honors the roots of yoga in her teaching by ensuring that her classes incorporate Sanskrit, pranayama, and meditation.
Jessica's belief that yoga is available to anyone is what motivates her to offer classes online and in-person. Access on-demand classes and her teaching schedule through this website.

Core Values
Kindness - the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate. Kindness is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing and the willingness to acknowledge that person's needs. It equally involves abstaining from inflicting pain, harm and horror (ahisma). Kindness is the practice of compassion. It is placing loving intention behind our thoughts, speech and actions. Through kindness we changes our perceptions. When we are kind, we manifest appreciation, happiness, optimism and greater self-esteem, therefore, enhancing our wellbeing and that of others.
Honesty - the quality of being truthful. A commitment to truthfulness (satya) empowers us to develop consistency and maintain authenticity in our lives. Meaningful connections are formed by trust and based on truth. Honesty is an action that is both external and internal. It is a reflection of the choices that we make - what we say and what we think and what we do. It is our responsibility to face, uphold and accept the truth, to speak with openness and clarity.
Sustainability - the quality of finding balance. Sustainability (brahmacharya) is the practice of being moderate in all activities. It is the ability to avoid depletion and excess. Stability and equality is achieved by actively considering the effect of our actions, attitudes and behaviors. Practicing sustainability allows us to conserve our energy, mindfully let go that which does not serve us, consciously emit our emotions, and to create significant relationships. A balanced lifestyle can lead to freedom from material possessiveness, attachment to outcomes, unneeded dependencies and redundant cravings.
